Guarding the Skies: ICHOU Netting for Airbase and Hangar Protection

From bird strike to drone incursion, airfield protection keeps tightening. ICHOU supplies hangar bird netting and aviation-safety netting to cut FOD risk.

Taiwan’s armed forces carry the responsibility of defending the country’s airspace. From bird strike to drone incursion, these are risks that affect both aircraft safety and national security.

Bird strike has been a serious hazard for aviation worldwide, at military and civil airfields alike. A bird ingested by an engine becomes FOD damage. International figures show that a small bird at high speed can generate tens of thousands of newtons of impact force — enough to damage the engine, airframe or windscreen of a high-performance aircraft, with heavy repair costs, delays and risk to aircrew and readiness.

FOD (Foreign Object Debris): rivets or screws dropped after maintenance, metal tools, plastic bags, construction gravel and similar objects on the apron. They can puncture tyres or be ingested on engine start, causing damage.

As a leading Taiwanese netting manufacturer with sixty years of experience in high-tenacity, weather-resistant netting, ICHOU supplies the following to strengthen base protection:

Fixed defence netting

Captures or redirects birds precisely, supporting wildlife management, reducing flocking risk and helping keep flight operations safe. (This product belongs to Nette Enterprise Co., Ltd., utility model patent no. 200172.)

Hangar bird netting

Made from a special material with a fine yet strong mesh, designed for large hangars. It keeps small birds out, avoiding strikes on engines and airframes and protecting high-performance aircraft.

UV and typhoon resistant with a service life of ten years or more; comparable solutions are widely used in military and civil hangars internationally. Once installed it also prevents nesting inside the hangar, reducing droppings-related corrosion and the risk of foreign objects entering engines — a necessary part of maintaining aircraft readiness.

Anti-drone netting

Drone capture and protection netting: designed in cooperation with a specialist drone company and produced to order as a high-impact capture net. Light in weight, yet able to entangle or intercept low-flying FPV drones, one-way attack drones or falling ordnance, protecting aprons, command centres and critical facilities.

Golf netting

Braided from ultra-high-strength multifilament, suited to boundary protection for base recreation areas and training grounds — good-looking and practical, keeping interference out while making the surroundings safer.

Made to order, made in Taiwan

ICHOU supplies more than standard products: we design to your requirements, deliver quickly, and guarantee that everything is 100% made in Taiwan in line with military procurement requirements.

Our netting is rigorously tested — corrosion resistant, able to take extreme weather, simple to install and easy to maintain — and has proved reliable across many industrial and agricultural applications.
